At first look the Doro 334gsm will make you wonder whether you are caught up in a time warp. Because this phone resembles either an archaic attempt at mobile telephony or some super-advanced gadget from the very distant future that hides a lot under the veil of simplicity.
The phone is a small device with no number keys, no messaging facility other than sending preset emergency texts. This model of Doro does not have most of the features that even a basic handset would have. However, they make the perfect option for those who depend on mobile phones as a backup of life more than being a necessity.
Everything about the phone tells you just that. There are four memory keys (A-D) and adjacent spaces to write the names of contacts whose numbers have been programmed for each button. This gives aged people one touch access to the nearest people.
The call/connect button and disconnect button are large and round, placed above the memory keys. Just above them are the key-lock and SOS buttons.
The SOS button is usually stipulated to 112; it is basically an emergency key. There is another emergency button at the back of the phone. This key does a number of functions simultaneously. One press on the button and it will instantly send an emergency text to a pre-programmed phone number, initiate an alarm, it will call all the numbers based on priority till someone answers.
Another very unique feature of the phone is, while calling the numbers, if any number rings for more than half a minute or goes to voice mail; the handset automatically disconnects the call and dials the next number.
But yes, composing messages and dialing any number other than the ones already saved in the phone is not possible.
So, the Doro 334gsm is quite clearly a phone which can be very handy in emergency situations.
